Etiquette:

1.  Do not sit with your foot on the brake.   This will cause the brake lights to come on and annoy the patrons behind you.

2.  It is permissible to wander around the drive-in before the movie and meet your fellow movie goers.

3.  If you drive a tall vehicle try to locate your vehicle so that it will not interfere with others.  I realize than in the modern world one third of the vehicles are SUVs but please try.

4.  At most drive-ins you are allowed to bring your own food, and for many families that is the only way that movies are affordable, however if you can afford to frequent the snack bar please do.

5.  Honking your horn at a projection mistake is rude.  If there is a problem, please contact the management.

6.  Radios tuned to stations other than the movie are distracting.

7.  Lawn chairs, car/van seats and just about anything else you want to sit on are ok.  My favorite is an antique stuffed rocking chair.

8.  Do not fuss with other patrons for making noise, or talking during the movie.  The drive-in is an outdoor social event as much as it is a movie.  Let the patrons enjoy themselves.

9.  Light should not be shined on the screen at any time.  Many people keep their truck lids or doors open to hear the movie. That's just fine but make sure to find a way to disable the lights or shield them.   My friend Terry uses a sheet of aluminum foil to shield his truck light and it works great.  Pen lasers are a major no no and will get you kicked out.

10.  Please drive slowly with your parking lights on during the movie.  The parking lights will keep down the light pollution but please be very careful.  Nothing would spoil your movie experience more than running someone down.

11.  It is permissible and highly encouraged for children to play in the grass area blow the screens prior to the movie.   However, this should take place under adult supervision.

Survival:

1.  Mosquito repellant is a must have item.  You probably won't always have the vicious little critters flying around but when you do, you will want the protection.

2.  A can of ant and roach spray will do a great job of keeping ants and tics from crawling up your legs.  Just spray the ground around your chair and your ready for some care free viewing.
